Anthropologie keeps rolling out the new pretties!

Summer perfection, in the Sidra Dress ($188).

Good morning from NYC, where I've just returned home to after several days away. I'm catching up with all the Tag Sale goodness and enjoying your hunt stories so far! I know many of you are eagerly awaiting an extra % off sale which a few blue birdies tell me could be here as soon as this weekend. (It may very likely also be combined with free shipping, but that's all unofficial and not confirmed.)

In the meantime, Anthropologie keeps debuting gorgeous dress after gorgeous dress, and my closet almost can't take it. (Almost.) This morning my eyes delighted in spying pretty flowies like the Sidra Dress ($188) above, the Les Fauves Silk Dress ($178), and the West End Swing Dress ($158) with it's cute print and easy shape.

And then on the practical yet pretty side are dresses like this adorable Downtown Romper ($148) above, the super-versatile Willa Dress ($158) that's available in a multitude of colors, the Rory Off-The-Shoulder Dress ($128), the potentially tricky Coraline Dress ($228) -- does the brand being named Ghost mean all of their items will be ivory or white? -- and the more structured Adrian Shirtdress ($138). Don't ask me to pick a favorite among them, because I simply can't.

A few quick programming notes: firstly, I am this close to finishing tabulating all the contest entries, winner announcement may come as soon as this afternoon! Secondly, a few of you are still waiting on me to mail out purchase packages to you, those should be out to you with tracking numbers by tomorrow morning. Thanks for your patience on both of these!!!

What's new and love for you this morning at Anthro?

Playing the {Tag} Sale Guessing Game

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Tomorrow marks the official debut of Anthropologie's semi-annual Tag Sale (your questions answered here)! The sale kicks off with a fresh, huge round of markdowns across all categories including home.

What will be marked down in the morning on the fresh cuts page of Anthro's site? I have some tips from little blue birdies inside, and there's sure to be much more too. Let's play the Tag Sale Guessing Game and guess away!

The June 2016 Anthropologie Tag Sale prep post

Anthropologie's semi-annual Tag Sale is coming tomorrow!! The last few rounds have been full of twists, turns and surprises sure to delight most any sale lover. These days sales and promotions are more frequent, so the Tag Sale isn't quite the huge deal it once was. It's still a lot of fun though!

Inside, What is the Tag Sale? And what can you expect? Explanations, rumors and guesses inside. Thanks as always to the generous employee tips that helped compile this post. We'll play the Tag Sale Guessing Game later today!

Tag Sale Update: Anthropologie's semi-annual Tag Sale to begin on Thursday!!!

Monday, June 20, 2016

This just in, from my little blue birdies sprinkled around Anthroland: The semi-annual Tag Sale will begin on Thursday! (June 23.) This twice a year event involves a larger than normal set of new sale markdowns, and usually some extra percentage off sale (extra 20-30% off usually for the Summer Tag Sale).

As always, this sale is meant to sell excess inventory, so often the best deals come after the Tag Sale. I will run a Tag Sale prep post on Wednesday to explain what this sale is all about and what we can expect this year. Stay tuned for updates!

Five new things I'm loving at Anthropologie this morning

Yes, yes to the print and shape of the Pineapple Halter Dress ($188).

I hope everyone had a successful Anthro Day weekend! Alas, I had to sit the promo out due to timing and way too much going on (my boyfriend's birthday, my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, Father's Day, etc. etc. etc.). However, that hasn't stopped me from adding even more to my Anthropologie wishlist with some cute new pretties that have popped up recently!

My newest wishlist topper is the Pineapple Halter Dress ($188) you see above. How cute is that print? And the polka dots -- yes! This dress has the same shape as other Eva Franco dresses like the Canary Lined Dress ($168) and the Saybrook Stripe Dress (mini-review, on me here, for fit guidance!).

The other 4 things I'm loving this morning are the Eyelet Off-The-Shoulder Top ($78, no I'm not sick of off-the-shoulder yet), the Tiered Lace Dress ($178) -- although those cups look way too small for a 32DD thanksfornothingAnthropologieboo, the Moana Silk Dress ($228) and the new blue-green color of the Paimpont Silk Dress ($198). LOVE!

What new pretties are you loving at Anthropologie today?

What will you get for Anthro Day? My top picks include the Gathered Stripes Midi Dress ($158), the High-Tide Halter Dress ($128), the Butterfly Garden Midi Dress ($198) in pink and the Shibori Sea Maxi Dress ($338).

Dear Anthropologie Bring These Items Back (Round 2)

Thursday, June 16, 2016

The Aida Cowlneck (review), one of about 1.5 million items I'd like to see Anthropologie re-release.

A few years ago, Anthropologie celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-releasing some of its favorite pieces in an Archival collection. (You can read about it in this post, and reviews here.) Rumors are stirring that Anthropologie is thinking of doing another Archival collection and this community has some ideas! We've visited this topic once before and I'd love to see all those items back...now let's have a fresh discussion with even more goodies I'd like to see at Anthro again.

I know you're all eager to discuss this topic; I have spent the last few days rounding up some items I could think of. It's been a fun blast from the past and I'm sure there are many items I'm forgetting. I'll start the conversation by sharing some of the items I'd like to see back and then please share yours in the comments...

Afternoon delight: Outfit Inspiration

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

My boyfriend's birthday is on Friday and I've been looking for just the right outfit for his party. (Here's the outfit I'm wearing to our couple-only birthday dinner.) This outfit above, from Nordstrom featuring Free People, is exactly what I wanted. Short, fun and flirty-cute! The dress is also available via Free People's website, though oddly not in this color. The collar necklace is by Kendra Scott though I rented it rather than purchase it for now (if you're interested in trying Rent the Runway, here's my personal invite link!). I'm finishing off the look with these heeled sandals in the red color.

I'll share photos on Instagram later this week of how the look turns out...and who knows, I might make a last-minute change. What's your outfit inspiration today? (I'm also totally loving this Free People tote, in several colors.)

The magic number is 40% off this morning...

This top is under $20 and wonderful for work or play!

It seems like 40% promos are popping up all over the interwebs this morning! A few retailers I turn to for work-ready and casual looks have some sweet promotions at the moment, including Ann Taylor, who is taking an extra 40% off its sale (discount applies at checkout) on items like the Eyelet Peplum Shell ($25 + 40% off) shown above.

Here are the details on a few of the 40% off promos happening today...

Ann Taylor // Take an extra 40% off its sale (discount applies at checkout). // Picks: This twist-front shell is elegant and looks great tucked into this skirt; the skirt also looks great with this top and these wedges. I absolutely adore this curvy pencil skirt; this popular pineapple skirt comes in both regular and curvy sizes too. // Bonus non-sale pick: I love, love, love these wedges in the blush pink!

J.Crew // Take 40% off summer picks and take an extra 40% off sale. // Picks:  Love this oversized striped shirt; this skirt is ultra-flattering on; these metallic d'orsay heels are comfy and pretty and on sale; this is the ideal work dress in my mind; I love this dress for the weekend.

J.Crew Factory // Take 40% off new arrivals, plus get Free Shipping. // Picks: I adore the print on this indigo paisley top; this crab tee is so cute (and I want to get it for every Cancer in my life); the prints on these shorts slay me!

LOFT // Take 40% off new arrivals. Also, take 50% off summer picks and an extra 50% off sale. // Picks: This summer tweed skirt would go with practically everything; this thinly-striped dress has a larger ruffle which I love for off-the-shoulder; I own and adore this dress; this frock is cheery, wonderful and perfect for summer.

Almost but not quite...Boden is offering 30% off dresses, ends today!

Anthropologie's not the only one having a sale this week!

Tuesday, June 14, 2016

Every so often it's time for me to do a closet cleanout and that time is here again! All of these items are in excellent used condition. They've been gently worn, loved and cared for, but now it's time to find them new homes. Help me feed the contest fund and my travel fund and I'll help you build your own wonderful closet! Interested in purchasing one of my items for sale? Email me. I mail out twice a week.

Inside, some rare Anthro goodies...

Afternoon delight: Five new Urban Outfitters Dresses I love

Long or short, these new Urban Outfitters dresses were made to be worn all summer long -- just how I like it!

Silence + Noise Sasha Maxi Slip Dress ($120) | 2 Silence + Noise Deep-V Satin Maxi Slip Dress ($89) | 3 Ecote Knit Off-The-Shoulder Bell-Sleeve Frock Dress ($49) | 4 Cooperative High Neck Scallop Frock Dress ($69) | 5 Silence + Noise Silencer Bias-Cut Satin Slip Dress ($119)

As most of these dresses are online-only, I haven't tried them on yet. But I'm about to place an order to try at least three of them...

What's catching my eye at Anthropologie this morning

The Islet Duster ($128) was made for summer breezes.

Good morning from the trenches, where I'm wrapping up a hellacious deadline at work! I managed to get a few spare minutes to peruse the Anthropologie site where there is somehow even more prettiness to add to my wishlist.

Thanks to the community it's known that there were a few new sale markdowns yesterday, which is pretty sweet while the extra 25% off sale promo is in effect! Some of the sale highlights for me include the Laced Tie-Neck Tank (now $40), the Natori Feathers Contour Plunge Bra (now $40), the Natori Feathers Front-Close T-Back Bra (now $20-$40) and the super-cute Faye Tank (now $40).

Meanwhile, over in new arrivals, items like the Islet Duster ($128, runs TTS) which I snagged in-store before it appeared on the site, have me feeling ready for summer and all the heat it's already bringing. Ditto the cute Crochet Garden Duster ($198) and the classic Anthro-feeling Cropped Vineyard Cardigan ($128). The beautiful Shibori Sea Maxi Dress ($388) had me saying wow out loud, as did the Greenwich Maxi Dress ($478). The Chiara Maxi Dress ($178) is another new dress I'm loving.

Later this week we'll talk about what Anthro classics we'd like to see back in production! For now, what new arrivals or sale markdowns have you delighted?

Anthropologie's sale is on sale!

Friday, June 10, 2016

Anthropologie is throwing us a promotional bone for the weekend in the form of an extra 25% off sale items. This discount applies automatically at checkout. The timing is good, as there were some popbacks in the sale section yesterday.

Among the currently available highlights (as of this post writing anyway), the Villanelle Lace Dress (now $100), Style No. 4130580813122 and Atoll Denim Dress (now $100), Style No. 4130581486055 are two Anthro insta-classics, and the Cascade Cowl Tee (now $30), Style No. 4112209028975 has been a very versatile addition to my closet.

What sale pieces do you recommend grabbing with this promo?

Bought and Loved: Free People edition

Wednesday, June 8, 2016

A summer dress that's equally eye and wind-catching. Free People's Wrap Top Maxi Dress ($326).

There's a place that lies somewhere between reality and fantasy, where the things I used to think adults wore as a kid were actually made. That place would be Free People which seems to specialize in catering to my boho-maxim and forest fairie dreams. Although much of what I love there doesn't work on me, it's still so fun to adore their stuff. And occasionally I hit the jackpot where multiple items I like do work and my closet's all the freer for it.

Before we dig in, I hate to start with a complaint but here it is: Free People's website redesign is gawd awful. Once the class of the Urban Outfitters website field (Free People, Anthropologie, BHLDN, Terrain and UO are all part of the same company) the usability of the FP site has gone terribly backwards.

Among my issues:
- I get errors constantly when trying to upload photos to the FP Me gallery (and I notice so many products with no FP Me photos now, which is strange).
- Every section is paginated now which is a frustrating choice in the age of the endless scroll. Who wants to page through 31 pages of dresses???
- Wishlists are paginated now. This is as pleasurable as having my eyes scratched out.
- Product image thumbnails now lie below the main image, which is too tall for most laptop screen resolutions. Headache-inducing.

In short, it's kinda exhausting navigating the Free People site now and that makes me sad. I truly hope they rethink the design from a usability perspective, because it's much much harder to use than their previous site. It doesn't diminish my love of the brand but it does deter me from browsing and ordering as much.

All that said perhaps this post is more important than I thought! Before you get lost in the sea of pages upon pages of product, here are some wonderful Free People highlights...

Bought and Loved: J.Crew and Madewell edition

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

A gingham top with a bow? Count me in, J.Crew.
Their Bow Shoulder Top in Oversized Gingham ($80) is a hit with me!

Maybe clothes are just prettier than they were last Spring? How else to explain the flies that casually buzz out of my empty spending wallet this Spring, punctuated by new delights overflowing in my closet. Last year? Barely anything new. This year? A constant struggle (in the most superficial and silly sense of the word) to decide what to cull to make room for what I'm bringing in.

Items like the Bow Shoulder Top in Oversized Gingham ($80), which runs a bit large, make me smile every morning when I get dressed. I love the colors, the length and of course the bow! Whimsy and lightness -- just what Spring and Summer need. If you like the idea of this top but maybe not the print placement or bow, J.Crew Factory offers a simpler, more classic variation in its Factory Gingham Shell Top (now $36, today only). There's something to love no matter what your style...

While Anthropologie is totally delighting me, they are not alone. J.Crew, its Factory Store and Madewell are all catching my eye too! Inside, some of the things I've bought and loved recently from the J.Crew family of stores, and a promo worth investigating...

Download Anthro's app, get 15% off your full-price purchase!

If you have an iPhone and love Anthropologie, today is an 'appy' day! (Sorry, couldn't resist.) Anthropologie is offering 15% off your full-price purchase using the code TAPTAP when you download their app.

This of course comes as I'd just made a purchase yesterday -- the High-Tide Halter Dress ($128) in green and two necklaces to go with it, the Beacheress Necklace ($64) which is lightweight and more plastic-y than wood but not too noisy when I walk and the Garten Bib Necklace ($54, styled here in ivory) in yellow, meaning I now own it in both colors. The dress runs slightly small if you're curvy so I went up to a large, which is also a little longer on me than the medium.

One item I did not buy even though I'd been expecting to was the Freya Poplin Dress ($168). It has a lot going for it, including strong interior boning, but this dress fits like old Maeve (pre-2012) which means super small in the chest. I couldn't get any size from an 8 all the way up to a 12 to zip up fully over my bust and that makes this dress a bust. Super boo, Anthro!

That said, there are plenty of other Anthropologie items tempting me at the moment. Items in my cart include the Pandeiro Necklace ($64), the Billy Ella Parry Wedges ($178), the Georgiadou Infinity Scarf ($58), the Milagros Tank ($98), the Tillie V-Neck Tee ($48), the Lace-Up Denim Skirt ($118), the Sugared Stripes Dress ($395) and the new grey colorway of the Gathered Stripes Midi Dress ($158) which fit me fantastically in a medium. And I could easily list about 20 more items!

Will you take advantage of this offer? I probably will, though this promo would have been more timely for me two weeks from now. If you're looking for more Anthro items to inspire you, check out yesterday's post.

Bought and Loved: Anthropologie edition

A peplum tank that lengthen and leans! Meadow Rue's Lia Tank ($78) is a total hit with me.

I've been on a tear at Anthropologie recently, brought upon by their sudden wake-up call and journey back into the classics that make us love them so! From items like the pretty and versatile Lia Tank ($78) above which I'm pairing with white cuffed jeans (more on that inside) to more expected delights, my summer closet is looking mighty sweet right now!

Inside, some of my favorite recent Anthro purchases...

The weekend in-store community post

Friday, June 3, 2016

I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.

Afternoon delight: A few dreamy desires from the Barneys sale...

Thursday, June 2, 2016

Rockies (far left and second from left) by Alexander Wang -- now on sale in mini version.

Barney's has kicked off its 40% off designer sale much to my closet-stocking delight! I've been rather enamored of mini bags recently and there are two included in the sale I'm considering...the Rockie Mini-Duffel (now $389) by Alexander Wang in crisp white, and the PS1 Tiny Shoulder Bag (now $959) in green fringe by Proenza Schouler. Mini-bags: not wholly practical, but much easier to wear for long periods of time!

Elsewhere in the sale, there is a denim dress and an eyelet dress from Derek Lam 10 Crosby that would make my Spring, a crepe dress from A.L.C. that has both feminine and strong touches, and a Rick Owens dress that flirts with ridiculous proportions -- and I love it!

Have you peeked at this sale yet? What do you have your eye on?

Anthropologie's SALE has sprouted new goodies!!

Ready for some new Anthropologie sale items? Just to keep us guessing, Anthro marked down its items late overnight...long after I'd gone to bed anyway! The Fresh Cuts sale page has updated and yes, Free Shipping no minimum is still in effect!

Happy Sale Hunting!

Playing the Sale Guessing Game

Wednesday, June 1, 2016

Anthropologie's sale will be back tomorrow with new markdowns! According to tipster reports, we're going to see a small set of home, accessory (i.e. jewelry) and clothing markdowns. Don't expect a big sale tomorrow but it may be a gem of a sale!

What might get marked down tomorrow? Inside, a few tips and the Sale Guessing Game...

10 new things I'm loving at Anthropologie this morning...

Anthropologie welcomes June with tons of new pretties,
like the latest colorway of the Gathered Stripes Midi Dress ($158).

Hubba hubba. A new month begins today (welcome, June!) and Anthropologie is celebrating with so much lovely new stuff. I came home from my Memorial Day Weekend trip to New Hampshire and have already found at least 10 new items for my wishlist. Items like the newest colorway of the Gathered Stripes Midi Dress ($158, above), which I own in the currently sold out red motif version and wore to Mexico way back in February but now need this color too have me very excited for my next store trip...
