Playing the Sale Guessing Game {again}

Anthropologie's sale is updating tomorrow with fresh cuts in advance of Black Friday!! No, we do not yet have information of what Anthropologie's Black Friday 2015 promotion will be. Probably late tomorrow we'll know details. You can check out last year's Black Friday promo here and the prep post here.

Right now Anthro has a few promos running: take 25% off Anthropologie dresses (sale dresses too!) AND get Free Shipping on orders of $150+Use the code HURRAH at checkout. Also, most full size bags are 25% off. These promos looks to expire tonite.

What will be on sale tomorrow? Let's play the Sale Guessing Game to influence Anthropologie!

Tis the season for decorating with West Elm!

West Elm's fresh wreaths are made to order and smell amazing, like the Magnolia Berry Wreath ($79).

Note: Anthropologie Sale is confirmed for tomorrow, so the Sale Guessing Game will be up this afternoon!

Like many retailers this season, West Elm has kicked off its Black Friday promotion a little early! Right now they are running their semi-annual Buy More Save More event, a tiered promo that can save you up to 25% off your purchase.

In the past I've used this promo to furnish my apartment -- both my couch and my nightstands are from West Elm, as well as my favorite furry pillows -- and this year I'll likely use it to pick up most of my holiday decor.

Inside, more about their delightful wreaths and picks from all over the store, including some fun quirky gifts.

Anthropologie's December 2015 lookbook and new arrivals

Monday, November 23, 2015

A very Anthropologie winter look. The Overland Sweater Coat ($138) and Embroidered Flannel Tunic ($128).

Anthropologie unveiled its December 2015 lookbook quite early this year! Whether the thought was to get us excited about the holidays, or because perhaps a Gifts lookbook is coming during the month, I'm happy to get an early peek at the newest looks. But...once I started looking at the images I was not very moved. I'm very happy that Anthropologie continues to produce a monthly catalogue but their process in selecting the clothing, locales and poses is a total mystery to me. It's hard to not feel a little let down by this mishmash especially compared to last year's tale of 3 sisters.

So instead of focusing on the catalog -- which you can see here -- let's talk about some of the fun new arrivals, shall we? Come inside to have a chat...

Banana Republic has two great deals going on right now!

Oh, Banana Republic, I'm so upset with you right now. You did exactly what I hoped you wouldn't do -- after less than a year, you moved the fabulous Marissa Webb out of the Creative Director position and into a 'creative advisor' role, whatever that means.  It's hard not be frustrated by that move just 18 months into her tenure...especially when the store was turning such a brilliant corner. But its hard to argue with quarterly results and they've been pretty bad for BR recently. This store is one of my work clothing staples so I want them to do well!

So, I'll be enjoying the last of Ms. Webb's Creative Director designs while I can. Right now, to help in that effort Banana Republic is running two pretty sweet promos. First, they are offering 40% off your purchase with the code BRFRIENDS. All Monogram items and BR Picks are excluded from this promo which eliminates a lot of beautiful options, but there are some other pretties worth highlighting.

Inside, those items, plus details on the other promo BR is running right now...

Playing the Sale Guessing Game

Sunday, November 22, 2015

This week is pretty big for shopping lovers, with Black Friday just days away. No, we do not yet have information of what Anthropologie's Black Friday 2015 promotion will be. Probably Wednesday we'll know details. You can check out last year's Black Friday promo here and the prep post here.

In the meantime, we've got sale to think about! Normally what happens Thanksgiving week is that markdowns happen on Wednesday. Although I'm thinking it will be the same this year Anthro has ways of surprising us so I'm putting up the Sale Guessing Game today just in case.

Right now Anthro has a few promos running: take 25% off Anthropologie dresses (sale dresses too!) AND get Free Shipping on orders of $150+Use the code HURRAH at checkout. Also, most full size bags are 25% off. Neither of these promos looks to expire tonite.

What will be on sale tomorrow/later this week? Let's play the Sale Guessing Game to influence Anthropologie!

Free People's best promo of the year is happening TONITE

Friday, November 20, 2015

It's like Black Friday one week early, tonite only at Free People. In-store or online.

It's the most wonderful night of the year -- for Free People that is. Tonight only from 6-10 PM ET you can take 20% off your Free People purchase of $200-$499 or 25% off your purchase of $500. This promotion is valid both in-store (check your store's hours here) or online. If you want to shop a little early, the promo starts at 5:30 PM on the Free People iPhone app.

Free People only runs this promotion once or twice a year, and whatever its Black Friday deal ends up being it probably won't be nearly this good. (Last year it was an extra 25% off sale, in-store only on Friday and then over the weekend online.)

Inside, my picks...

Weekend Open Thread + A few new Sale items!

Finally on sale -- the Sanna Blouse (now $50)!

In what will probably be the norm between now and the new year, Anthropologie added just a few new items to its Fresh Cuts sale section this morning, most notably the Sanna Blouse (now $50). Be sure to check your wishlists!

I'll have a post for the December lookbook up later today...

Shop Anthropologie's first December 2015 arrivals now!

Thursday, November 19, 2015

December creep is in full swing at Anthropologie! Not that I'm complaining...

Never one to wait for the holidays to actually be here, Anthropologie has joined the parade of clothing stores hoping to tempt us to deviate from spending on gifts and spend a little more on ourselves. (Or gifts. Gifts too!)

They're helping us out by starting to roll their December 2015 new arrivals out now, and normally I'd be all up in arms about this but instead I admit I'm totally excited! I was starting to wonder if they'd ever have a party dress section -- and here it is!

I'll cover the new arrivals more thoroughly once I've cleared the hellacious pre-Thanksgiving deadlines I'm facing at work right now (sorry for how quiet it's been on the blog and thank you for keeping the conversation going!) but for now I've got  few favorite picks.

The Gathered Jersey Dress ($168). I need this. Possibly in both colors. And it's 25% off right now!

The Gathered Jersey Dress ($168) shown above has me positively drooling. In addition to this beautiful cobalt is also comes in a lovely-looking pink. The Brienne Coat ($238) slid right by me earlier this month but now I'm gaga over it; the Greyscale Buttondown ($88) has the buttons-in-the-back look I love; the Bell-Sleeve Pullover ($88) is a 70s reference I can get on board with. That color -- swoon! But why the heck does the Vegan Leather Circle Skirt ($158) look so long in the catalogue shot, only to be disastrously short on the product page?

Let's end this post on a good note instead of a complaint, I'm also loving the Arbor Pullover ($98).

Don't forget Anthropologie has a few promos going on right now -- take 25% off Anthropologie dresses (sale dresses too!) AND get Free Shipping on orders of $150+Use the code HURRAH at checkout. Also, most full size bags are 25% off -- no code required!

What do you think of the new goodies uploading today?

Today in Anthropologie: new Promo, new Promo, new Promo and new Sale!

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Pretty dresses from Anthropologie, now 25% off, including the Lanka Tunic Dress ($168).
And it ships for free!

The holiday spirit is in full swing at Anthropologie! This morning they launched a double promo -- take 25% off Anthropologie dresses (sale dresses too!) AND get Free Shipping on orders of $150+Use the code HURRAH at checkout for one or the other of these promos, or both. This promotion is also valid in-store. Because this promotion requires a code it cannot be combined with the birthday discount either in-store or online. Please don't kill me Scorps/Saggis. I love you both.

Ahh picks. Besides the Lanka Tunic Dress ($168) topping this post, I'm interested in the Two-Tone Lace Shift ($178), the Neoma Tulle Dress ($548), the Denimknit Cocoon Dress ($148, love this outfit from the Columbus Ohio Anthropologie on Instagram), and the Romona Lace Dress ($248). The sale section has some in-season beauties like the Textured Stripe Dress (now $80) and Brindille Sheath (now $90).

And of course these dress promos are an excellent time to invest in the gorgeous pieces by Byron Lars, which rarely if ever hit sale. If you don't own the Mona Dress ($258) yet, what are you waiting for??

There's one more promo too -- most full size bags are 25% off -- no code required! You can combine the birthday discount with this one.

Also, curiously, a few new pieces hit sale today such as the Pleated Empire Tee (now $30, review, Instagram OOTD), the Cascade Blouse (now $40) and the Dolman Turtleneck (now $50). Check your wishlists for updates!

Will you be partaking in these delicious new promos? Anthropologie is really spoiling us right now and I love it.

Just for the heck of it, here's some beautiful outfit inspiration from the various Anthropologie stores now on Instagram:

A new Anthropologie promo is here, and your decorating desires are going to be fulfilled!

Friday, November 13, 2015

Make yourself at home with Anthropologie's latest promotion.

Ahhh, here's a new promo to warm your hearth and home. This weekend, Anthropologie is offering 20% off FULL PRICE home items, in-store and online. Use the code GUESTPREP at checkout.

I'm beyond delighted by this promotion! I really want to create a nice little holiday candle vignette in my home, inspired by a beautiful display I saw at the 5th Ave Anthropologie here in NYC. Now I can do it for a little less! I'll use the Dipped Mercury Glass Hurricane ($78-$98) in both squat and tall with these holiday lights inside; then surround it with an assortment of candles that coordinate like the Mercury Moonglow Candle ($38-$68) which come in various heights and scents; the Capri Blue Winter Wonder Candle ($16) and the Mini Capri Blue Jar Candle ($12). Of course I will not light all the candles at the same time, but the effect is sure to be warm and cozy!

The inspiration for my holiday decorating ideas above.

What are you thinking about buying with this delightful new promotion?

Check your wishlists! New SALE items have arrived...

Thursday, November 12, 2015

In absence of a promotion this weekend it looks as though Anthropologie has thrown us a slightly different bone -- a small amount of new markdowns! I'm seeing mostly dresses that have been marked down, including:

Bloomsbury Tie Dress (now $80), Style No. 4130089935625
Cowled Sweater Dress (now $100), Style No. 4130318475055
Fara Surplice Dress (now $90), Style No. S4130461056087 -- turquoise only
Galena Midi Dress (now $100), Style No. 4130336410064

20 Anthropologie new arrivals I'm loving this morning

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

I always love the unique button details on items by Rosie Neira,
and the teal Lynes Sweater Coat ($198) seems sure to delight.

It's a beautiful morning in Anthropologie's new arrivals section, where sweater season is in full swing! Items like the Ranstead Cabled Cardigan ($148), Kotoia Mockneck Pullover ($148), Candy Dot Pullover ($128), Brindley Cashmere Cowlneck ($348, drooling) and Ambrose Knit Jacket ($118) have me debating over priorities in an already packed shopping cart. And that's just in the sweaters new arrivals! From the last few days!

Inside, fourteen more new arrivals I'm totally loving...

Anthropologie's Fresh Cuts section has updated with yesterday's new home sale cuts! So a day late on my part but as promised, here are some sale highlights.

I'm absolutely in love with the curved lines of the Foundry Piano Stool (now $180), which would look great positioned somewhere near the Artiglio Three-Drawer Dresser (now $750). Similarly curved and lovely is the gorgeous Pascaline Chaise Lounge (now $1750). I've always wanted a chaise but my apartment isn't really big enough for one. Someday...I have two Anthro chairs in storage awaiting the day when I own a home.

If round isn't your thing, I'm also swooning over the beautiful Sigrid Daybed (now $1500) which would do well in perhaps a living room setup with the Seaborne Sideboard (now $2000). And if you live in an open concept home those items could be complemented by the more ornate Crystal Coronet Chandelier (now $1300) and Bexley Buffet (now $900) in the dining room...with the Chesspiece Candle (now $15-$25) on top? Although those candles would also look lovely in a library or study...

I'm quite enamored with a few random pieces that hit sale as well. For example, the stubby Old Havana Teapot (now $30) has quite a beauty to it in both pattern options. The full range of the Apolena Glass collection went on sale and I'm quite partial to the regal Apolena DOF Glass (now $15) -- you can see all the glass sizes and shapes from that product page. Several pieces from the Marbled Ink collection also hit sale. I have the bowls (not yet on sale) and love them! Marked down items from that group include the Marbled Ink Teapot (now $40), the Marbled Ink Pitcher (now $50), and the super pretty Marbled Ink Serving Platter (now $50) which could perform so many functions beyond serving platter!

A couple more random likes, I love the pattern of the Bone Inlay Chair (now $500), the Calm Cosmos Rug (now $70-$1200) and the Geo-Block Pillow (now $35-$40).

Did anything from your home wishlist receive a second cut or go on sale?

2015 Holiday Gift Guide: Let's play

An excuse to hang out with friends and family, face-to-face. The Family 3-in-1 game set.

Note: While we wait for the sale section to update with the latest home markdown goodies, here's another installment in the EA 2015 Holiday Guide. Also, today is the last day for 20% off tops and sweaters! Use the code TOPITOFF at checkout.

Can you believe there are less than 30 shopping days til Hanukkah??! Where the heck has 2015 gone? Welcome to the EA's 2015 Holiday Guide which like everything else here will be published irregularly until the holidays arrive. Gifts for her, gifts for him, gifts for pup and gifts for host/hostess will all be covered...

This one is for all the travelers and hosts who want to disconnect the internet for the holidays. (I'm so there with you.) Do you travel a lot for the holidays, or host people in your home? Are you as sick to death as me of everyone staring at their tiny screens for the entirety of road trips, flights, family or friend get-togethers and the like?

About two years ago my guy and I went to visit his family at their cabin escape. Located deep in the woods, it was awesome for skiing and snowshoeing but not so awesome for internet connectivity or television. (A godsend, truly.) As much as we both love his family we looked at each other beforehand and asked, "What are we going to do in those natural lulls?" I was looking for a good hostess gift to bring at the same time, and we eventually settled on bringing the Family 3-in-1 game set ($99 + 20% off using the code MGTURNS3 at checkout).

The game box has chess, checkers and backgammon inside a sturdy leather-bound box. It's durable, easy to travel with by car, and can also be personalized. It was a total hit with my guy's family! Not only that, it was an awesome excuse for all of us to put down the phone games and actually interact with each other. I know that can be such a rarity in this modern disconnected world!

After several friendly rounds of competition, much popcorn bet back and forth, and tons of laughter, I settled on the conclusion that I needed this same game box for my apartment and it's been the hit of plenty of get-togethers since.

For the backgammon aficionado in the house there is this lovely oak backgammon set (now $300 + 20% off using the code MGTURNS3 at checkout) shown above. I find that backgammon is a great game to bring to parties or family get-togethers because so few people know how to play it now so it becomes an immediate interest of everyone to see how the game is played and then invest in cheering for the player of their choice. Time passes beautifully watching the strategy and luck unfold.

And while kids love backgammon too, kids of all ages (including adults) might be much more satisfied getting out their family stresses on something that can be knocked over...like dominoes. That is where the Family Domino Set (now $200 + 20% off using the code MGTURNS3 at checkout) comes in so handy. These dominoes are specially weighted and oversized, which makes them easier for little hands to grab and manipulate. I love the colors of each number on the domino faces too! Nothing beats the smile of a 5-year-old (or my own inner 5-year-old) when you watch a carefully constructed path of dominoes fall over.  And of course there are other games to play with dominoes too. There is also a less expensive domino set ($70 + 20% off using the code MGTURNS3 at checkout) with the traditional face and size proportions.

If you plan to be on the move a lot this fall and winter or know someone who does, this travel backgammon and cribbage set ($99 + 20% off using the code MGTURNS3 at checkout) might be perfect. On an airplane, a train, a bus or the backseat, this set is sure to pass the time when looking at the window becomes too much beauty to bear.

For Go Fish and War lovers, this double playing card deck-holder ($49-$59 + 20% off using the code MGTURNS3 at checkoutis a spiffy option.

Trust me, hosts and hostesses will delight in seeing you walk in with a fun distraction like these! Right now Mark & Graham is offering free shipping and 20% off any one item using the code MGTURNS3 at checkout. Happy shopping...

By request of the community comes this weekly post. Please use this post to list website popbacks that you see on your wishlist, via search engines, or in your shopping cart. Popbacks go very quickly but hopefully by having them in one place will be helpful. Please do not use this post for store sightings.

This weekend, let Anthropologie help make your sweater and top experience more fun!! A new promo is here...

Thursday, November 5, 2015

She is really excited about Anthropologie's latest promo -- her sweater is 20% off!
Also coffee. She's really excited about coffee. And salads maybe?
People seem really excited about salads these days.

Here's a promo a lot of us have been asking for -- this weekend, Anthropologie is offering 20% off tops and sweaters! Use the code TOPITOFF at checkout. This promo is valid in-store and online this weekend. Because this promotion requires a code it cannot be combined with the birthday discount in stores or online.

So many choices! I would highly recommend the Snap-Neck Pullover ($68) which I reviewed the other day -- and to those who asked, I ended up sizing down to a small in it to fix the wrist loosening issue. In sweaters I'm quite enamored with the Ardila Pullover ($128), the Abstract Roses Pullover ($128), the Winterknit Sleeveless Turtleneck ($148) and the Pointelle Cashmere Vest ($198) -- the last of which I wish came in more colors.

Over in tops I'm really liking the Rosalie Tiered Sweatshirt ($88), the Jardim Blouse ($88), the Anzere Print Tank ($68), the Nolina Pullover ($88) and the Layered Lilith Tank ($78).

This promo also works on sale tops and sweaters! Edda Lace Top (now $50), come to mama! Will you take advantage of this promotion too?

2015 Holiday Gift Guide: A modern take on Polaroids

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

photo via Urban Outfitters

Can you believe there are only 31 shopping days til Hanukkah??! Where the heck has 2015 gone? Today marks the kickoff of EA's 2015 Holiday Guide which like everything else here will be published irregularly until the holidays arrive. Gifts for her, gifts for him, gifts for pup and gifts for host/hostess will all be covered...

Back when I was in high school and college, there wasn't a single party that went by without me (and many of my friends) taking photo after photo of our hijinks -- leading to some pretty hilarious photo albums. These days of course everything is digital and I'd handed off the photo responsibilities to people more talented than me...

That is of course, until the joy of Polaroids was modernized for the digital age. Photo taker, meet Fujifilm Instax Share Smartphone Printer ($143). This little device is amazing. It connects to your smartphone (it's definitely iPhone and Android compatible, not sure about other phones) wirelessly if you'd like to print out cute, Polaroid-like photos. Suddenly taking a zillion photos of parties, get-togethers, pretty much anything is fun again! And not just for Instagram porn!

I love to rotate the photos displayed in my apartment often and this photo printer has been the best excuse to do so ever. I've also purchased it as a gift for several of my friends -- friends who are pregnant or just about to have a baby (I may be spoiling the surprise for a few of them reading right now, oops!), friends who are true photographers who can use them as insta-business cards, friends who love to take photos, relatives heading off to college or in late high school...the list goes on and on. That this printer is smartphone-capable makes it ideal for so many people, who doesn't have a smartphone these days?

It's so much fun to print out a photo of, say, my cute dog and me, and then include it with a handwritten letter to a friend who lives far away. Or to send to my parents. Or just to have on display in my office at work (I use this frame), at home, wherever really. My guy, who is normally not all about photos even digs this printer.

One more cool thing about this printer -- companies are making really fun film for it too. I've seen film where instead of the plain white border Polaroid lovers know it's stars, stained glass and candy pop, or various fun patterns. And of course there is the standard film with the white border too.

The printer is available via Amazon and Urban Outfitters, though the price is higher at the latter. Urban Outfitters also has some cool accessories, like the photo clips shown above, a vertical option, a medallion clip set, a copper mobile,  There are also frames galore -- a monogram frame, a glitter frame, an ornament for your Christmas tree frame, a double-paned glass display frame, a single-paned glass display frame.

Get your photo on.
