Off topic: Shopping victory found me during Bloomingdale's Friends & Family promo

Monday, March 30, 2015

So tempted by this beautiful goddess dress from BCBG.

Anthropologie may not be having a sale today (though the extra 20% off sale promo continues) but plenty of other retailers are doing their best to tempt me into shopping! This past weekend I took advantage of Blooomingdale's Friends & Family promo to pick up some workout gear and new bras. Inside, what I got and a bunch of other things I'm wishing for right now.

Playing the Sale Guessing Game!

Sunday, March 29, 2015

Let's try this one more time, shall we? Anthropologie has an extra 20% off sale items promo right now (use the code EXTRAEXTRA at checkout). Typically Anthropologie doesn't overlap these codes with new markdowns, however one can always hope.

Hoping for new sale items tomorrow? What will happen in the morning? It's time to play the Sale Guessing Game and speculate!

I have a hunch that late week is more likely than early week due to end-of-the-month inventory. Could I be wrong? Absolutely.

Investigating Anthropologie's Newest Arrivals PLUS take an extra 20% off sale!

Saturday, March 28, 2015

Whenever Spring weather finally arrives in New York City, I plan to wear something similar.
In this look: the Circle Lace Tank ($68), 7 For All Mankind Freesia Skinny Jeans ($198),
Lien.Do Amorzao Slingbacks ($178) and Delphic Tile Scarf ($98) worn as a head wrap.

Before we get to the new goodies, Anthropologie is offering an extra 20% off its sale this weekend! Use the code EXTRAEXTRA at checkoutMy picks would be the Apsley Sloped Armchair ($800 before the 20% off); the Essential V-Neck ($30 before the 20% off); the J Brand Maria High-Rise Jeans ($150 before the 20% off); the Sorel Joan of Arctic Knit Boot ($100 before the 20% off); the Dainty Sparkle Necklace ($40 before the 20% off) and the Adelais Pendant Necklace ($50 before the 20% off). This promotion is valid in-store too!

Although it would be very easy for me to pick apart what I'm finding wrong among Anthropologie's newest and recent arrivals, one look at my wishlist is all it takes for me to realize that hmm, perhaps it's a good thing I don't love everything. I am on a budget after all even if my dreams often easily eclipse that magic monthly number.

Right now I'm especially impressed by Anthropologie's flats selection...I've added 5 or 6 pairs to my wishlist and I'd love to buy them all! They just keep selling out too quickly. I guess some are more stealth about these things than me. Also highly impressing me is Anthro's jewelry, which has returned to a more balanced take between big, clunky statement pieces that are fun but not everyday wearable and the daintier, more delicate pieces I enjoy adding to each day's outfit as the finishing touch.

Inside, what's been added to my wishlist and shopping cart in the past couple of weeks...

Eye Candy: Anthropologie April 2015 catalogue

Friday, March 27, 2015

Note: Looking for popbacks? Here's this week's open thread.

Anthropologie's April 2015 lookbook didn't get a shopping preview that I know of -- instead it's already made its debut just in time for the weekend! Free Shipping is also still working as of this writing; use the code FS150 at checkout for free shipping on orders of $150+.

I'm all about the kite photos used in this shoot! What a creative way to summon up some nostalgia (who didn't fly kites as a kid?) while showcasing some beautiful clothes. The kites also speak nicely to the wayward hemlines in a lot of the pieces here...which I'm a bit less enamored with. Are this month's looks worth splurging on? Let's take a closer peek.

This gear makes working out all the more fun

Thursday, March 26, 2015

In this outfit: Onzie's Elastic Tank ($45), Espana Capri ($65) and Criss-Cross Bra Top in Espana ($42).

I am training for my first-ever triathlon at the moment and as my training and dance schedule kicks into high gear, my investment in workout clothes has increased to match. Many days of the week I work out twice -- before work and after work. Even with two rest days and the occasional day off I need lots of clean stuff available to get me through the week.

Which is why it's so exciting that workout gear keeps getting prettier and prettier! I've tried nearly enough stuff to do another round of reviews (you can see the previous round in this post) but until then I wanted to showcase two of my favorite mixable outfits, put together brilliantly by Carbon38 using entirely Onzie gear.

Anthropologie's clearance center Final Cut is coming back in a new location!!!

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Final Cut's new home

Update: The new Final Cut is expected to open April 18, 2015.

Good news for Anthropologie ultra-deal lovers! Anthro's Clearance Outlet Final Cut, which closed a couple of months ago in its old location, has found a new place to land. (You can read more about what Final Cut is and what to expect in this post.)

The new Final Cut store will be in the same town -- Augusta, GA -- as the former location. The space is leased from Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and may be open as soon as the first week of April, though no official opening date has been announced.

For those interested, here's information about the stores Final Cut will share its new shopping center home with provided by Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA:
"Final Cut is leasing space from Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA, on our Helms College Augusta Campus at 3145 Washington Road [in Augusta, GA]. The center, at the intersection of Fury’s Ferry Road, is about a mile from Interstate 20 and about four miles east of the store’s former location.

The center is a significant upgrade. Final Cut will be located in a portion of our property – previously Village West Shopping Center – that was used by upscale furniture retailer Weinberger’s Furniture. The facility, renovated and reopened in 2011, is occupied (from left to right, as you face it) by a Goodwill donation center and retail training store; a Hire Grounds Café and bookstore (a great place for books and coffee!); a Goodwill Job Connection; the Snelling Center, a meeting and event venue; Edgar’s Grille (www.edgarsgrille.com), a beautiful high-casual restaurant; Helms College, a culinary school operated by Goodwill; Social Inc., a private facility that teaches dance and social skills to teens and is the only other leased property on our site; the Helms College administrative offices; Helms Career Institute, a health sciences school opening in July; and then the space for Final Cut.

Helms College (www.helms.edu) was created by our Goodwill (www.goodwillworks.org) in 2007 in Macon and expanded in 2012 to Augusta. It provides diploma and associate degree culinary education for about half the cost of other nationally accredited culinary schools, and currently is enrolling students for spring quarter starting April 13. Edgar’s Grille and the Snelling Center, in addition to offering superior dining, event and catering services to the community, also provide experiential learning opportunities for Helms College students, who rotate through the facilities as part of their practical, hands-on education.

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA spans a 35-county service area, from Aiken, S.C. to south of Macon, Ga., and includes Dublin, Lake Oconee and Warner Robins. We provide job training, education and career development services, and last year served more than 24,000 individuals and helped more than 4,600 with new job placements."

My mouth is watering thinking about culinary school -- I've taken classes at the French Culinary Institute and loooovvveeddd them. So this new Final Cut store has some pretty sweet company it seems!

Georgia Anthro fans, will you make the trip to this new Final Cut location once it's open? How about the rest of our community? Anyone down for a road trip? I'd like to find some Anthropologie jewels and oldies there.

Free Shipping is back on Anthropologie.com!

Is your Anthropologie.com shopping cart loaded with stuff you want to pull the trigger on? Perhaps Free Shipping will help! Now through, well, I'm not sure when but hoping at least next Monday you can get Free Shipping on your Anthropologie.com order of $150+!! Use the code FS150 at checkout.

Although I just bought a bunch of stuff for Anthro Day, I'm still tempted to use this code...and might be even more tempted once the April lookbook preview comes out. (It's not online yet, there will be a post once it is!)

In my cart right now? I'm on a jeans kick at the moment...I have the Citizens of Humanity Emerson Boyfriend Ankle Jeans ($278) and the Paige Verdugo Skinny Jeans ($219) in my cart, plus the very non-jean Leather Moto Jacket ($398) by Dolan. If you're looking for a less expensive pair of destroyed jeans, I purchased and like the Pilcro Stet Slim Ankle Jeans ($118) alright, though I wish they were actually available in the tall length Anthropologie teases in the product description.

Does Free Shipping tempt you today? Thanks Jen for the tip about this promo!!!

Off the beaten path...Having amazingly good luck at...Express?!?

Thursday, March 19, 2015

Sometimes all it takes is one great styling suggestion for me to feel inspired
to crack open my wallet. Shown here, the Sleeveless Portfino Shirt ($45)

Like many midmarket and fast fashion stores, I have a love-hate relationship with Express. As a high school student it was one of my go-to places for button-down shirts and sexy dresses. Then after college as a new professional on a very low budget their workwear was ideal even if the material was not. Every so often I still like to stroll in there to see what the assortment looks like.

Last week I was on my way to an after-work event when I learned that the outfit I had on was way too fancy for the dress code. Cue screeching brakes! I didn't want to go crazy buying an entire new look at premium prices if I didn't have to, so something inspired me to take a stroll to the Express just a few blocks away with a friend.

I'm so glad we did because right now their assortment is on-point. That is, on-point for Express. It's not like you're going to find amazing pima cotton tops or luxe silk dresses. But at the price point and for long-term wearability I'm pleased by the amount of classic staples I found -- plus a few trendier items it was easy to buy for under $40.

Inside, what I've bought on my two recent trips into Express plus a deal so good it beats the one currently listed on their website -- but it's valid today only.

Reviews: Tea Garden Sheath, Verda Maxi Dress, Nautique Shift, Tasman Midi Dress, Paned Cocoon Dress, Patchwork Petals Dress

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

Dresses are blooming for Spring at Anthropologie.
I love the look of the Tea Garden Sheath ($178)!

After a few rounds of dress reviews perhaps it's time to turn our attention to a different kind of clothing, wouldn't you say? In this round...trying on Anthropologie dresses.

Eye Candy: Anthropologie Spring 2015 Home Catalogue

Monday, March 9, 2015

Playing with proportion -- and gravity. Left to right: Dhurrie Sofa ($1,998),
Yarn-Dyed Fan Pleat Sofa ($2,498), Patterned Willoughby Sofa ($2,198),
Striped Carlier Sofa ($2,598).

If you're a fan of Anthropologie's always beautiful, sometimes whimsical, occasionally over-the-top home goods, there's no need to anthro-pologize. For every flight of fancy like a $9,000 tent there's a drop-dead gorgeous chandelier ($1,498), the mirror of my Paris apartment dreams ($2,198), the perfect rug to hide all of my pup's fur while looking beautiful doing so ($1,898-$9,728).

Anthropologie has brought back its home-only catalogue for Spring 2015 and the resulting lookbook is one of the prettiest, best-styled catalogues I've seen in a long time. Inside, some of my favorite pages from the book. You can scroll through the entire thing yourself here.

There's more new markdowns in Anthropologie's SALE!!

Thank you much to our community tipster who last night gave us advance notice of the new markdowns in Anthropologie's fresh cuts section today. When you click through a lot of cuts might seem familiar because they have mixed in this week's new home markdowns with last week's clothing sale items.

Still, there are gems to be found as always: perfect your party gear with the Floating Pom-Poms (now $8), Metallic Ribbon Party Tassel (now $10), and the delightful-looking and aptly-named Celebration Jar (now $15). The Antler Collage Print (now $40) and Ironwork Animal Wall Bust (now $75-$100) might be a possible alternative to throw out there to the guy who likes to shoot things and then mount them on walls -- perhaps he'll feel equally manly with the Angled Heirloom Letter Opener (now $8) or using the Twisted Twig Measuring Spoons (now $15)?

Then on the decorating front there are lots of new pretties on sale, like the Embroidered Monogram Pillow (now $20), Evelyn Throw (now $40), Wire Script Sculpture (now $15-$40 and seriously cool) or the Vintage Books Boxed Set, Fashion (now a steal at $1,300!).

Lastly there are a few curiosities that caught my eye: the Luminance Juicer (now $10), the Metallic Playing Cards (now $10) -- I own the gold set ($18) and though they are a little difficult to use in low light the cool factor is off the charts and my guy loves playing poker with his friends using them, the Jardin Des Plantes Pedestal Bowl (now $20) and for the writer or calligrapher in your life I love the Kaweco Pen Cartridges (now $2). The matching pen is also on sale for $15 right now.

Did anything from your home wishlist go on sale today? Will you shopping the freshest Anthropologie cuts?

Get that Anthropologie dress you REALLY want for 20% off starting now!!

Thursday, March 5, 2015

The Marisol Maxi Dress (now $183, review) -- one of my favorites at Anthropologie and now 20% off!

A Thursday morning delight awaits at Anthropologie -- dresses are now 20% off! Prices are as marked with no code required which means that this promo can be combined with the birthday discount. Hooray! This discount is valid in-store and online but I'm unsure how long it runs. At least through the weekend no doubt. This is just the thing I need to shake off some winter blahs!

This is a promo I've been waiting for. Among the top dresses on my wishlist are the Mona Dress (now $207, review), the Atabei Midi Dress (now $480), the stunning Marina Gown (now $398), the Patchwork Petals Dress (now $199, review upcoming!) and the Secret Garden Sheath (now $183).

A community member is reporting that FS100 works for free shipping at checkout, however it didn't work for me when I tried. Anthropologie rarely combines promotions but it is possible that some accounts have a test so it's worth giving it a shot!

Will you take advantage of this well-timed 20% off dresses promo? There are so many pretties to choose from!

Off topic: Save on your favorite designerwear and such during Shopbop's Big Event!

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Before you get too excited, no the graphic above is not for an Anthropologie promotion. (Although if they ever did something like this it'd be pretty cool!) EA favorite Shopbop is the one having one heckuva deal right now if you're in the market for either some late-winter steals or perhaps thinking ahead to luxe springwear.

Right now at Shopbop you can take up to 25% off your order total using the code BIGEVENT15 at checkout. And if you're an Amazon.com Prime Member you can take advantage of that to get Prime shipping options at checkout, which is pretty sweet. (Not a Prime member? You can purchase a membership here that includes a 30-day free trial.)

Inside, the goodies I'm dreaming of....

Anthropologie's SALE is here to warm up a chilly morning!

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

After what seems like months, Anthropologie finally has fresh cuts this morning! Inside, the list of what's best from this crop of markdowns plus some 2nd/3rd/etc cuts too.

Plenty of my wishlist went on sale this morning. How about you? Come on inside for a full look...

Playing the Sale Guessing Game {again}!

Monday, March 2, 2015

Let's try this one more time, shall we? Anthropologie's extra 25% off sale items ends today (use the code EXTRAEXTRA at checkout). This end of promo clears the way for long overdue fresh clothing cuts tomorrow!

At least, I hope they come tomorrow. Update: Yup, sale's on tomorrow! Some of the goodies you can look forward to inside...unconfirmed list...

What will happen in the morning? It's time to play the Sale Guessing Game and speculate!

Reviews: Nava Cowl Tank, Smocked Eyla Buttondown, Patchworked Lace Tee, Gia Tunic, Floriated Cowlneck, Melia Peplum Tee

The Floriated Cowlneck ($68) hints that spring may soon be in the air.
As I type this I'm wearing three sweaters and wrapped up in a faux fur blanket.
But you know...someday. Spring. Maybe.

Note: No new sale this morning -- maybe tomorrow? We'll play the Sale Guessing Game again later today! Today is the last day for extra 25% off sale.

Anthropologie's March 2015 catalogue is filled with shorts and light, flowy dresses which can mean only one thing: winter is being firmly denied and pushed out of retailers minds. I'm willing to play along I suppose. Tops can be layered; tights can be worn under skirts for now.

Inside, the latest round of reviews from Anthropologie's cavelike 5th Ave (NYC) and decently-lit Rockefeller Center fitting rooms.

Playing the Sale Guessing Game

Sunday, March 1, 2015

Anthropologie's sale is on sale -- use the code EXTRAEXTRA at checkout to get an extra 25% off sale items. What does that mean for fresh markdowns? Every store I've visited still has a pretty full sale room but it's been weeks since any new cuts were added and I'm thinking it's time.

New sale in the morning? Tomorrow? Nothing tomorrow? No one knows for sure yet which is why it's time to play the Sale Guessing Game!
