The weekend in-store community post

I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.

{Weekly} Popbacks Open Thread

Note: Eye Candy will run tomorrow, Reader Outfits will run on Sunday! (To send your Reader Outfit in, simply email me.)

By request of the community comes this weekly post. Please use this post to list website popbacks that you see on your wishlist, via search engines, or in your shopping cart. Popbacks go very quickly but hopefully by having them in one place will be helpful. Please do not use this post for store sightings.

Eye Candy: Anthropologie 2012 Gifts catalogue

Measuring Hedgies ($36). Shop the full catalogue here.

When Anthropologie's Gifts catalogue first appeared online yesterday, many of us feared this was it for December. It seems that's not the case luckily and Anthropologie has released this special edition book in the grand tradition of department stores. Anthro itself used to have a Gifts catalogue so it's very nice to see this cute little collection back. Also in the tradition of department stores, this book has items both practical and paradoxical. Prepare for your eyes to feast and weep after the jump.

Update: Oops! Turns out this is in fact the only catalogue Anthropologie will be releasing in December.

Notes from Urban Outfitters' Q3 2013 Earnings Call

Note: I'll be back later today with a Gifts 2012 catalogue review!

Last week it was once again time for Urban Outfitters' executive leadership to join analysts and listening stockholders and discuss the company's quarterly results. As always a few morsels were dropped into an otherwise standard call. Let's dissect and pull out the intriguing answers.

Examining Anthropologie's new arrivals: What's Good

What we like: the Bijou Toecap Pumps ($168).

Today on EA we'll be looking at Anthropologie from three angles: the products, the business side and the catalogue presentation. Since I've been harsh on the items recently I thought it would be nice to start this morning with a discussion of what Anthropologie has been doing well.

Black Friday open thread + my hunting list

Black Friday is here and retailers are drooling over us hoping we'll crack open our wallets and fork over whatever's inside. It's hard to pass up such tempting deals but with budget in-hand I'm fighting the impulse shopping back.

Inside, what I'll be looking for at Anthropologie today...

Thursday, November 22, 2012

Metapost: Gobble Gobble!

Wondering what Anthropologie's Black Friday promotion will be? It's a pretty sweet treat!

And so of course, there is an Anthropologie SALE today!

Anthropologie held out until Wednesday this week to unveil their sale but it was well worth the wait! Tons of new markdowns are here though some of the cuts are less than the normal 40-50%, likely because a 25% off sale promotion is here.

Playing the Sale Guessing Game (again!)

It's deja vu! Word is that markdowns may be on the way tomorrow. I don't want to sacrifice community sleep but I do want to make sure we don't miss anything. Will tomorrow bring markdowns like olden days of yore? Or is Anthropologie just toying with us through vague hints? Let's play the Sale Guessing Game and find out!

The Anthropologie Black Friday 2012 Prep Post

This image is from 2011 and is not current.

It's the big question in our community: what will Anthropologie do for Black Friday 2012? No official word yet (it's likely not coming til Wednesday) but we have some hints. Inside, let's take some educated guesses, plan for the big day and talk about what might happen after Black Friday.

UPDATED 11/22/2012 7:30 AM with link to details post, edits with official details on Anthropologie's Black Friday promotion.

Guest Post: Eye Candy: Houston (CityCentre) TX Anthropologie winter fashion show by Ana

Hello from Texas, fellow Anthro lovers. I had the privilege of attending my home store’s Winter Fashion Show last Thursday night and had a fantastic time. Upon entering the store, faux snow covered logs and a cute beaver chiseled out of wood greeted customers at the front of the store. Since my store located in City Centre is fairly large, the runway was set up in the middle of the back of the store. Glass jars with glowing lighted faux candles lined the runway and foldout chairs held gift bags for the attendees. At the end of the runway, snow covered evergreens framed a large cutout panel of woodland creatures. There were three tables spaced around the store with food, drinks, and goodies. I could feel everyone’s excitement and anticipation for the show, eager to see the latest outfits for the winter and holiday dress season.

Open thread: Searching for Anthropologie, elsewhere

As Anthropologie's Fall and Winter lines continue to trickle in, I can't help but pine for the days when I was swooning over everything at all once. I see them trying but right now Antho's getting beat at its own game by some other retailers. I thought it could be fun to point out some Anthro-like items I've seen at other stores and then turn it over to you to share Anthro-like items you've spotted elsewhere too.

Last time around we took on dresses. Today? Sweaters.

Playing the Sale Guessing Game

Note: The Tracy Reese dress Michelle Obama wore at the DNC is now available to preorder on Anthropologie's website. It's called the Colwyn Brocade Dress ($398).

We had markdowns last week, mostly from Anthro's boot collection -- but not nearly as many as I was hoping for. With Free Shipping in effect on Anthropologie website orders of $100+ with the code OUTREAT many community members are guessing there's no sale coming tomorrow. But I'm hopeful! There are too many items holding stubbornly at full price, or at full stock on first cut. Will tomorrow bring new markdowns? Let's play the Sale Guessing Game and find out!

Eye Candy: Anthropologie's 2nd November 2012 catalogue

Surprise! Thanks to many in the community who alerted me to a second Anthropologie November 2012 catalogue which is now available online. (The first one was discussed in a post late last month.)

I love this catalogie. Love, love, love it! If the first go-round this month was the more experimental book, this one is pure classic Anthropologie. The settings, the styling and of course the pieces themselves make me want to buy the clothing. And isn't that the point of a catalogue? I'm so delighted to see this unexpected surprise. My wishlist is exploding with new items. Let's take a look together, shall we?
