The weekend in-store community post

I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.

**DEVELOPING** All Anthropologie SALE clothing items are 25% off!

Happy Friday! I'm still gathering up information, but it looks like Anthropologie's delivered a real Labor Day weekend treat -- 25% off all clothing & shoe sale items. Currently, the extra 25% is NOT showing on the sale pages. You need to add the sale clothing item to your cart to see the discount.

{Weekly} Popbacks Open Thread

Note: Eye Candy will run tomorrow, Reader Outfits on Sunday! (To send your Reader Outfit in, simply email me.)

By request of the community comes this weekly post. Please use this post to list website popbacks that you see on your wishlist, via search engines, or in your shopping cart. Popbacks go very quickly but hopefully by having them in one place will be helpful. Please do not use this post for store sightings -- those should go into the weekly Weekend In-Store Community Post which runs on Fridays at 12:05 PM ET.

Eye Candy: September 2012 Anthropologie catalogue

The August and September books are typically my favorites of the year from Anthropologie. Though I found a few things to love in the August 2012 Anthropologie catalogue you mostly disagreed with me. Will the September 2012 Anthropologie catalogue fare any better? I sure hope so.

Notes from Urban Outfitters' Q2 2013 Earnings Call

Note: I'll be back later today with a September 2012 catalogue preview!

Just over a week ago the corporate leadership team from Urban Outfitters shared its quarterly earnings results with investors. What did CEO Richard Hayne and Anthropologie Group CEO David W. McCreight have to say about our dear Anthropologie? Let's dig into the call transcript and find out!

The weekend in-store community post

I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.

This post is for community members to trade information. You can ask for help in finding an item, report back on what you saw in-store at your local Anthro, ask general questions, make a request, or just stop by to say hello. I love how helpful this community can be! Please note that items for sale belong in the Trade Market, as do 'looking to find' requests for past season items. Comments that erroneously get posted in this thread will be deleted.

Some FAQs....
- What does "sub" mean?It means that people are subscribing to the comment thread. You can do this by either clicking the small RSS icon at the top right of the comments section or by selecting either subscribe to "all new comments" or "replies" in the comment box in the comment form.
- Someone in the comments said they wanted to buy an item from me, but it's been x hours and I haven't heard squat. What should I do?I give people 24 hours for the benefit of the doubt. After that move on to the next person that contacted you.
- Someone said they returned an item at the store 20 minutes ago but I just called the store and it's gone. What gives?!?
A store associate might have taken a fancy to it or a customer might have grabbed it. Maybe it's just at the bottom of a big ol'pile. Unfortunately, you're out of luck.

Help! My closet is full of pieces I love and no outfits!!

First 4 photos in this post via New York Magazine

It's that moment many of us experience every single day: we are ready to get ready for our day, but our closet is not ready for us. We stare into a well-stocked, well-organized sea of tops, skirts, dresses, pants, shoes, etc. Yet not a single piece calls to us. Somehow, despite owning hundreds of items we cannot find a single thing to wear.

Building your wardrobe :: Fall 2012 wishlist

This week on Effortless Anthropologie and for the next little while on The Parallel Universes Resolution, I'll be focusing on my plans for Fall 2012. Every year around this time my budget becomes more important to me, as I begin saving for Hanukkah/Christmas presents and setting my financial goals for the next year. It's very tough for this shopping lover to reconcile my favorite shopping season (fall! hooray!) against the long-term good of my financial plans (retirement! hooray!). But I always try.

The series will focus mostly on the shopping end since that's what this blog is about but I will also try to incorporate as much of my budgeting and planning thought process in as possible. I have covered how I budget for shopping before in this post; although it's old now the information is still mostly valid.

Anthropologie's SALE has many layers!

Anthropologie has added a bunch of new sale items this morning in a mid-sized sale. Among the surprises are the first-ever markdowns of some of the Bailey 44 column dresses; the Layered Column Dress (now $90, review), STYLE #21181631 and the Tiered Stripes Dress (now $100, review), STYLE #23453269 both hit sale. Free Shipping on orders of $100+ is a nice enticement on sale day, wouldn't you agree?

Playing the Sale Guessing Game

Note: The Trade Market will run on TUESDAY.

Now that Anthropologie has moved its sale to Mondays, the end of the weekend is much more exciting. Last week was home only, and now that Free Shipping is here it seems only fair that clothing gets some cuts. What will get marked down? It's time to play the Sale Guessing Game to find out!

Eye Candy: Effortless Anthro Reader Outfits!

Carmen (next to our guy in the hat)
Sarah Ball Cottage Garden Top
J Crew #2 Pencil Skirt in Succulent Green

Note: FREE SHIPPING is back on Anthropologie's website! Get the full details in this post.

The best part of EA's weekend is here! It's time for another edition of Reader Outfits, featuring our famous community dressed up in Anthro as they're interviewed, defending their theses, and making public appearances at the Bronx Botancial Gardens! (OK that last one is me and Usha and it was a public appearance in our minds only. Close enough.) We've got a great mix of casual and dressed up this week. Plenty of eye candy below! Please show your love for our contributors in the comments.

Free Shipping is back for a limited time on Anthropologie's website!

Anthropologie's brought back FREE SHIPPING on all anthropologie.com orders of $100+. The details say this offer is available for a "limited time." I'm working to find out what the end date might be.

There's one big caveat to this promotion: your order must include at least one full-price item. Try placing an order with only sale items and the free shipping won't kick in. Thanks to Anita for pointing this out.
UPDATE: Anthropologie contacted me to let me know that this caveat was published in error and has been removed.

Will this offer stir you to place an online order? Does this perk help heal the wounds of the recent bout of cancellations and backorders?

Note: Reader Outfits are coming up later this morning!

anthro member PERK ALERT: Shop Pied Juste first!

Remember that anthro card holder perk alert Anthropologie teased a few days ago? Looks like that perk is here! If you like clean & modern shoe silhouettes this collection is bound to make you drool.

Reviews: Netted Meridian Top, Jade Blocked Shift Top, Parted Paisley Tank, Gilga Tank, Peplum Ponte Tank, Ruffled Flight Cardigan, Amplified Buttondown, Stripe-Moss Cardigan, Openwork Sweater Tank, Satsuma Sweater Tank

The Satsuma Sweater Tank ($148) gets the EA review treatment.
Also in this shot: Imprecise Graph Skirt ($98), Pompom Petals Skinny Belt ($28).

It may be August but Anthropologie (and many other retailers) have not hesitated to release long sleeves and sweater material in this heat. Let's take a closer look at some of these season-deficient options....

Reviews: Skirted Scoopneck, Tangled Layer Top, Slanted Layers Tee (striped), Onyx-Scalloped Blouse, Scalloped Shell, Sleeveless Racerback Shirt, Muskegon Pintucks Buttondown, Dipped Chroma Blouse, Elixir Loop Top

Onyx-Scalloped Blouse ($118), so perfect in the catalogue shot.

Now that Anthropologie is using model shots for products instead of dress forms, it's much more of a fit guessing game. A top usually looks completely different on the models than it does on me. Sometimes that's a bad thing but it can also be good. Ironically the items that look wonky on models (too loose, etc.) tend to work best on me. What kind of messed up subliminal messaging is that?

Investigating Anthropologie's latest new arrivals

In this outfit: Peplum Ponte Tank ($78, review coming this week!),
a mystery skirt and the Furina Mary-Janes ($100).

Although there's no new catalogue to pore over, there are enough new arrivals on Anthropologie's website that I felt justified in creating a dedicated post. I am very curious to hear what the community thinks about the fall items that continue to trickle in. I'll start with my thoughts.

anthro email: Will you miss out on the big surprise?

Anthropologie emailed many of its anthro card holders late last week with a tease! The email asked us to update our anthro account information, lest we miss on some mysterious upcoming big surprise. So if it's been awhile since you last used your anthro card, or if your mailing address is outdated or if you have a card but never use it...well this might be the time to get on that already!

What is the big surprise? I'm tempted to say free shipping, but the hint of updating our mailing addresses makes me wonder if I need to start watching the mail. For what I wonder...

Any community guesses about the perk? Did you receive this anthro email?

Cuts for the home take over Anthropologie's SALE!

Note: The Trade Market will run on TUESDAY.

There were no new clothing markdowns this morning. Be sure to check your wishlist as it seems a very few items got 2nd/3rd/etc cuts and perhaps you're a lucky duck eligible for a PA! Instead Anthropologie shifted its focus to the home, where various sections saw cuts.

All Bedding is 25% off through Thursday too. All in all, not a bad week if you were hoping to bring home something to adorn your abode. List after the jump. As always, Happy Hunting!! Accept no imitations.

Playing the Sale Guessing Game

Note: The Trade Market will run on TUESDAY.

Now that Anthropologie has moved its sale to Mondays, the end of the weekend is much more exciting. Last week saw a huge sale...and yet still more is due to be cut. It's time to make room for fall items!! And strangely, the NYC store sale rooms are looking pretty empty while the floor is overflowing. I think more cuts are due! What will get marked down? It's time to play the Sale Guessing Game to find out!

Eye Candy :: Place Nationale Pop-Up Shop @ UES Anthropologie (NYC)

It's no secret that I'm in love with Place Nationale, one of the teams showcased as part of Anthropologie's Made in Kind collaborative. The one-of-a kind pieces have been tough to get a hold of. Both their online capsules sold out almost immediately (with some items ending up on eBay for above retail sadly) and small store shipments flew off the shelves just as quickly.

So I was very excited to get word that the Upper East Side Anthropologie here in New York City is hosting a Place Nationale pop-up shop! It's filled with more Place Nationale items than I've ever seen in one place. Thanks to the wonderful visual team and store employees I was invited to head up to the store to take photos of the pop-up shop and try on some items.

Upcoming events at Anthropologie: Petite Trunk Shows and Denim Parties

Anthropologie is ramping up its in-store events schedule! I'm very excited to see more posters and emails about parties at the store -- I love spending time with the SAs and personal shoppers and other Anthro lovers of course!

Anthropologie's SALE surprises us a day earlier than normal!

NOTE: The TRADE MARKET will run tomorrow!

It's a huge sale this morning, so big in fact that it's kind of overwhelming. Tons of stuff from my wishlist went on sale and I'm sure many in the community are facing a similar dilemma. Or perhaps not, depending on your wishlist. Remember to stay within your budget!

Is your wishlist full of 2nd/3rd/etc cuts? Please let the community know in the comments!! A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of the community tipsters this weekend, this post would not be here without you. As always, Happy Hunting!! Accept no imitations.

The full clothing list is after the jump. Shoes, bags and accessories have their own separate sale post.

Playing the Sale Guessing Game

No, this is no mistake. I know it's Sunday but according to a few community tipsters Anthropologie is changing things up and running their sale on Monday of this week instead of the usual Tuesday. These tips are uncomfirmed as of now but come tomorrow morning I expect to wake up to a sale. Will it happen? What will get marked down? It's time to play the Sale Guessing Game to find out!

Eye Candy :: Store Inspiration

from the Soho (NYC) Anthropologie
On the left dress form: Pocketed Peasant Blouse ($128, review here),
Holding Horses Gable Boyfriend Shorts ($98).
On the right dress form: Fairburn Necklace ($58), Miette Blazer ($128), Skirted Scoopneck ($68),
Citizens Of Humanity Printed Avedon Skinny ($189), Ice Cube Skinny Belt ($38).

The weekend is finally here! It's time to kick back, relax and take a look at some beautiful store eye candy. I took all the shots this week around the NYC stores while hunting down items to review. I am consistently impressed by the city visual teams! The dress forms here always have complete outfits, right down to belts and jewelry. It's so helpful to see a few featured items combined differently at each store. I draw tons of outfit inspiration and notice pieces I wouldn't otherwise see.  If you'd like to submit a photo for the Eye Candy: Store Inspiration monthly contest please read the guidelines and then send in your shot! On to the dress forms...
