Eye Candy: Leifnotes Fashion Show :: Soho Anthropologie

Saturday, March 31, 2012

Just want to see the pictures? See the fashion show looks here,
or see the entire night's slides here.

Time for some Saturday Eye Candy! This week is a special edition. Every so often Anthropologie will hold fashion shows at its stores, so customers can get an idea of how to put together outfits from the myriad of options available to buy. This past Thursday Leifsdottir's diffusion line Leifnotes got the model treatment in a special event at the Soho Anthropologie here in NYC.

I love these events for so many reasons. First, Leifsnotes head designer (and Anthropologie Executive Creative Director of Anthropologie Product Design) Johanna Uurasjarvi attended the event. In fact so did a bunch of staff from the home office in Philadelphia, including anthropologie.com's Head Personal Shopper Christina.

Secondly, the show's models were Anthropologie staff and customers. Models of various ethnicities, age groups, heights and body types were represented. And everyone looked incredible! I will never understand why the catalogues can't be like this too. The clothing looked amazing and relateable because it was on a variety of bodies. It made me take a second look at items I initially passed on.

And finally it's always fun to go to an after-hours event catered specifically to you. Everyone in the house was an Anthropologie lover. Instant icebeaker! The Soho store staff did a fabulous job with the snacks, drinks and the runway itself. The models walked up onto a raised platform which made taking photos so much easier. Much appreciated, Soho staff!!

Thanks to Stephanie of Bar Chic for snapping this photo!

My partner-in-crime for the night was the lovely Usha of Tripping the Light Fantastic. We met a few members of the community who were lovely and had a great time mingling. Everyone seemed to have an item in mind (or two, or three) that they were hoping to see in the show or around the store. And yes, just about everyone I saw purchased something before the evening was over.

Ms. Uurasjarvi gave a quick speech to the crowd, wearing a Leifnotes dress naturally. After that it was fashion time! Let's start the show...

Watch the full-screen version here.

Look #1: Field Biology Blouse ($88), Current/Elliott shorts (not online yet), Tumbaga Sandals ($68).

Which outfit is your favorite? For me it's a toss-up between look #11 and look #16. I like a few of the others but they aren't as good for my body type (i.e. look #6 which I adore but never on me). After the show Stephanie, Usha and I chatted with the staff and models, tried on some things and hoped to win one of the raffle prizes. Alas that last one was not meant to be. I ended up purchasing no Leifnotes items, instead taking home the new multi-motif version of the Openwork Tee ($78, previous version reviewed here) and the Esker Maxi Skirt ($118). Both will be perfect for my upcoming Hawaii trip.

A few more photos to set the scene below, you can see my complete set of photos from the evening here. Kudos to all the amazing models as well as the Anthro team that styled each look! The show also had hair by Paul Mitchell and makeup by Mud (which is located just below the Soho Anthropologie). Thanks to Anthropologie for the invite! I can't wait for the next show.

Email: Made in Kind -- Coming April 5 to anthropologie.com!!

Friday, March 30, 2012

What are you doing on April 5? Anthropologie hopes that you'll be checking out their website next Thursday! They'll be unveiling 11 new limited-edition collections in which Anthro lovers can delight. Today they sent a teaser email and video out to tease next week's official unveiling.

Among the dresses in the video are a few from the Hi There! from Karen Walker line which I am dying to discuss once it's officially released...though I can tell you from community hints that this collection is already available in some Anthropologie stores. I can't wait for the dresses to be officially released!!! And I'm interested to see what else April 5 will bring. Teaser video below and more information to come next week.

The weekend in-store community post

Note: Please come visit tomorrow (Saturday) to see a special edition Eye Candy: Store Inspiration post from the Soho Anthropologie's Leifnotes fashion show. Don't forget to email me your Reader Outfit!! And please check out EA's newest feature, the {Weekly} Popbacks Open Thread!

I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.

This post is for community members to trade information. You can ask for help in finding an item, report back on what you saw in-store at your local Anthro, ask general questions, make a request, or just stop by to say hello. I love how helpful this community can be! Please note that items for sale belong in the Trade Market, as do 'looking to find' requests for past season items. Comments that erroneously get posted in this thread will be deleted.

Some FAQs....
- What does "sub" mean?It means that people are subscribing to the comment thread. You can do this by either clicking the small RSS icon at the top right of the comments section or by selecting either subscribe to "all new comments" or "replies" in the comment box in the comment form.
- Someone in the comments said they wanted to buy an item from me, but it's been x hours and I haven't heard squat. What should I do?I give people 24 hours for the benefit of the doubt. After that move on to the next person that contacted you.
- Someone said they returned an item at the store 20 minutes ago but I just called the store and it's gone. What gives?!?
A store associate might have taken a fancy to it or a customer might have grabbed it. Maybe it's just at the bottom of a big ol'pile. Unfortunately, you're out of luck.

{Weekly} Popbacks Open Thread

Note: Eye Candy will run tomorrow, Reader Outfits on Sunday! (To send your Reader Outfit in, simply email me.)

By request of the community comes this weekly post. Please use this post to list website popbacks that you see on your wishlist, via search engines, or in your shopping cart. Popbacks go very quickly but hopefully by having them in one place will be helpful. Please do not use this post for store sightings -- those should go into the weekly Weekend In-Store Community Post which runs on Fridays at 12:05 PM ET.

What is a popback? It's an item that is no longer accessible through Anthropologie's product sections, sale or search because it previously sold out. Now the item has "popped back" into stock in select sizes and colors but does not show up on the website like other products do. These items are either found through people's wishlists, their online shopping carts, clicking through affiliate links on my old sale posts, or search engines.

Here is a general sample for how to post a popback (note: this is not an actual popback, just a sample!):
Veiled Alder Dress, $298
STYLE #22887426
dark grey
sizes: 2, 6, 8
find it on my public "Effortless Dresses" wishlist by searching for snapsparkchik@gmail.com

And here's a sample for a sale item (note: this is not an actual popback, just a sample!):
Elevenses High-Waisted Trousers, now $30
STYLE #21313945
dark denim
sizes: 4T, 10T
find it on my public "More Effortless" wishlist by searching for snapsparkchik@gmail.com

If possible please include a product photo with your popback. Not sure how to include a photo in a comment? Here's a tutorial.

If you claim a popback please respond to the original comment.

1 - Call Anthropologie's order line at (800)-309-2500. You'll need the style # to place your order.
2 - If you have the item saved to your own wishlist log in, go to your wishlist, add to cart and checkout!
3 - If the item is on someone else's public wishlist, below is a mini-guide on how to find the item.
4 - Google/Bing the product name + Anthropologie (i.e. "Veiled Alder Dress Anthropologie") and choose the result that takes you to the product page.

How to find a public Anthropologie.com wishlist :: Effortless Anthropologie
click on the photo to zoom

1 - Log into your Anthropologie.com account.
2 - Go to the Wishlist page on Anthropologie's website.
3 - The bottom right box is called "Find a Person" (boxed in red in the photo above). Click on the blue search button.
4 - Paste the email address of the person whose wishlist is public in the "email" field and click "search."
5 - The search results should give you a person's name. Click on that. Then choose the correct wishlist.
6 - Once you find the item you want, add it to your cart. Once it's in your cart you can save it to your own wishlist, save it for later, or delete it.

**IMPORTANT** - if an item is OUT OF STOCK you WILL NOT be able to add it to your cart from another wishlist.

If there is other information you'd like me to cover here just let me know in the comments! This post runs every Friday.

Eye Candy: Anthropologie April 2012 Catalogue

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

On the left model: Neo Halter Tank ($88), Season Staple Shorts ($58),
Marigold Crossed Slingbacks ($158).
On the right model: In-Ground Painted Shift ($188), Coiled Cobalt Wedges ($168).

Note: by request of Anthropologie, this post has been edited to remove the bottom three photos until the Karen Walker collaboration officially launches.

After sneaking some items online yesterday, the April 2012 catalogue promotional shots have debuted on Anthropologie's website today. A few things I like right off the bat: healthy-looking models sporting amazing hair! They are even smiling in some of the photos. I am happily stunned. From the looks of it this catalogue was shot in Peru and there's a feeling of days of yore here that I like. The clothing is still hit or miss though; still no work clothing from what I see and while there are some options for my next trip here I am struggling with how I'd style these pieces for NYC. Take a look at the Eye Candy for yourself and let me know your thoughts.

Openwork Tee ($78, previous version reviewed here),
Alicanto Hoops ($38), Pilcro Stet Denim Roll-Ups ($68).

On the left model: Akebono Halter Dress ($158), Coiled Cobalt Wedges ($168).
On the right model: Peplum Ponte Tank ($78), Junin Embroidered Skirt ($168),
Microflora Mary Janes ($148), Ocali Bib Necklace ($168).

Puckered Ruffle Scarf ($38), Side Splashed Tank ($68),
??? shorts.

On the left dress form: Dicot Macrame Tank ($58),
Joe's Ikat Crops ($179), Drysdalia Wedges ($168).
On the right model: Urcos Handkerchief Dress ($118),
Stitched Chevron Wedges ($130).

Playing the Sale Guessing Game

Monday, March 26, 2012

It's been two straight weeks of clothing markdowns. With free shipping now in play for USA customers, will this week take a break from sale? It's time to play the Sale Guessing Game and find out! My list of potential markdowns has dwindled significantly...I would be surprised to see more markdowns tomorrow. But you never know. Perhaps it will be a home week.

This post is no guarantee that any of these items will actually be on  sale come tomorrow. All community reports are unofficial. What are you hoping to see? What do you think  will/won't go on sale? If you see an item on sale today please let us know. I won't be updating this post but Macgruffruff might if he's feeling generous. If you're looking for reviews of any of  these items, use the "Search the Archives" box in the sidebar. If you  have a report from your store be sure to share in the comments!

FREE SHIPPING is back at Anthropologie for a short time!

Ask and we shall receive! This morning Anthropologie is sending an email letting USA customers know about FREE SHIPPING on all online orders over $100! It's just a short-term promotion unfortunately that only lasts through March 29 (Thursday). You can get the full details on the top of the Shipping Information page on anthropologie.com

Will you take advantage of this offer? I think it's a nice gesture and it's good to see a lower minimum than previous promotions. Also happy to see that all USA customers are getting this without any multivariate testing tricks. Do wish it was valid in Canada and abroad though.
