While I was away Anthropologie sent their monthly anthro member newsletter. This month, their email focuses not on their catalogue but instead on The Anthropologist. The website, which launched last year, gives Anthro a venue for the people and things that inspires the company.
This month a new project is available to peruse. Photographer Donna DeMari shares a stirring photo diary tribute to her two Labradors, Forrest and Luke. The project's theme is devotion and anyone who's ever had pets knows how appropriate that is. For me the most touching vignettes were the ones devoted to each dog separately. While weaving the tale (tail?) of the unique quirks of each dog Ms. DeMari also reveals how the differences between the dogs completed one family unit wherein all desired traits were accounted for. The personalities of the dogs are captured so well in the photos too. I particularly love the shot of Luke rolling on his back in the grass. It's a familiar expression of joy for any dog lover.

The Anthropologist isn't about clothing or homewares but it is a little peek inside Anthropologie all the same. It's a bit reflective too -- hey, I'm a dog lover just like they are! (The company is widely known for being dog-friendly at their corporate headquarters.) I've enjoyed all the projects they've shown so far and look forward to the next set. You can sign up for Anthropologist emails here to be alerted when new projects launch. If you want to share your reactions with other Anthro lovers visit the Anthropologist's Facebook page.
