The weekend in-store community post

Note: I will run new posts over the weekend but continue to have this post on top of the blog to encourage participation.

I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.

This post is for community members to trade information. You can ask for help in finding an item, report back on what you saw in-store at your local Anthro, ask general questions, make a request, or just stop by to say hello. I love how helpful this community can be!

I'll kick things off this time around -- I received an email from Gina a little while ago:

For your LA readers...I was at the Nordstrom Rack at the Beverly Connection last night and there was TONS of Leifsdottir brand clothes there! Sweaters, shirts, etc. I know that is a popular brand that Anthropologie carries so I just wanted to pass along the tip!

Thanks Gina!!

I need help with sizing for the snakebite belt. I don't know if I'm a small or medium (haven't found any in stores to even try on in any color!). Can someone please measure a small and/or medium and tell me how long it is? Thank you!

I also need some advice. I've had the Staysail Shirt Dress in my cart for a while now. I've read all the reviews that say you should size up and I've read Roxy's review but I'm a size 14 (and large bust) so I can't size up. Should I go for it any way and give it a try or am I just out of luck?

Thanks Archana!

I'll give them a call about the crop patterns dress.

I actually have the mustard colored "great escape skirt" which is just like the "thousand days skirt". I'm hoping to find the navy or dark orange.

Have any of you gals seen the Miss Albright Headmistress Peep Toes in stores in size 7 or 8? Still bummed I missed out on them online. They are still available in size 9 though!

Anonymous said...

Hi,
I agree with Roxy about Leifsdottir clothes at Rack. I had an amazing score of the Conch Shell skirt, Anthro. catalog March 09. I bought it for about $ 29 (75% off of 109). I was so excited that day. However, I spent another $ 28 for alteration. LOL. The total cost was about $ 60. The good thing was I provided a little job for my local dressmaker.

I also have had lucks with my shoes at the Rack. I can find sample shoes from designers for $ 100 or less. These shoes are in python or snake or ostrict leathers. One time, I bought a Chie Mahara happy green color shoes for $ 60. It is perfect for my Grassland dress.

One observation I realized at the Rack is that majority of shoppers like basic color shoes like black, brown, and navy. Any other colors like yellow, pink, orange, green, lilac, purple, etc... are difficult to sell. But this is for my advantage because these amazing sample shoes are very well made with excellent materials. Well, because these shoes are sample, they are to be represented to a vendor, so they have to be good. These sample many times do not make it to the final product so they are sold out at Rack. But because they are not mass produced, I end up buying a lot of beautiful designer shoes, unique, cute, and one-of-a kind shoes.

I have no idea where the new arrivals on ebay come from. I did buy a plaza cardigan and the only difference was that one of the tags was cut out so you could not return it. Other than that it was perfect. I also bought a best in show blouse and it just did not have store tags. I would love to know where they come from as well.

Anonymous said...

Marge-

I am on ebay a lot and have bought things from a lot of different sellers- some that only sell anthro stuff. Check where they are sending them from...I won't buy anything if it seems like it is being replicated from far overseas. I think that in some cases, it is too far to drive and return the item? Maybe they are employees using discounts? Not sure about that but am curious too!

I'm looking for the Converging Roads Sweater Dress (style #930122) in a M and the Frills-and-Frost Coat in a L (style #913893). Has anyone seen either of these items in her travels? If so, I would be thrilled if you would let me know where!

I've never ordered items from out-of-state stores before. Can someone tell me if doing so is similar to purchasing online in that you pay to have the item(s) shipped to your home or can you get the item shipped to your local Anthropologie store without paying shipping?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have a wonderful weekend!

-Sarah

Hi Sarah-

First, try the anthro @ Fashion Valley for the converging roads sweaterdress- I'm not sure of the sizes left but there were quite a few there today- (619) 291-2891.

As for ordering from another store, when I ordered my winding ruffles boots, the AZ store charged me CA sales tax and shipped them for free via UPS to my house.

Hope this helps!

I was at Anthro yesterday (Thurs) and there was a pair of buddong t-straps in a size 1o at the La Jolla UTC, CA location

Sarah - I am (unfortunately) pretty sure the Frills & Frost Coat was an online-only item. However I may have seen it at Rockefeller Center. The online style # is 913893. Try giving them a buzz -- (212) 246-0386‎.

Also ladies just a heads up that I will be out of town this weekend, so I will be slow to respond to emails. I'll check in when I can. :) I'm also swinging by the Greenwich & Westport Anthros in Connecticut, so I'll check for items that have been requested here.

RetailTherapist said...

Emily, thanks for the tip on the honeyed peplum skirt. Unfortunately, my local nordstrom rack in south FL doesn't have any. If the Colma rack is as chaotic as the one here, I'm not sure how I would be able to locate the skirt there... Has anyone had experience placing phone orders at nordstrom rack? If so, are there style numbers to facilitate the process?

Thanks so much for the info!

There was also a black one, but I can't remember the size, maybe a large... Good luck!

I would love to be the new owner of Maeve's Jacqueline Dress in the navy/cream color size 2 or 4 if someone has one they would be willing to part with. I have also been looking for the Budding T-Straps in a size 6 but when I called CS they said none existed in store stock or online. I also am looking for the Wildflower Cardi in size M or L.

I have also purchased a couple of those brand new items off of Ebay and as far as I can tell they are authentic.
Thanks!

Hi Roxy,

would you happen to have the item number for the Chie Mihara Ayoi booties? It is beige with lots of ribbons/bows in the back of the heels. It is very similar to the Frilled Heels # 940065 in July 09 catalog. The difference is the Frilled Heels are back and ribbons are on top of the shoes. The Ayoi booties is in beige and the frill/ribbons/bows are on the back.
I am looking for size 36 or 6.

If you or any lovely ladies outthere has seen this shoes, would you please put it under my name cindy and email me?

I called the CS but they cannot help me if I do not have item number

Thank you so much.

Cindy - Anthropologie calls them the Until-We-Meet-Again Booties, and the online style is #943193. Good luck! I hope you find them. :)

I have a general question. If I purchase an item at its original price, never wear it, and never remove its tag and then it later goes on sale after the 14 day price adjustment period has expired, can I return it and re-purchase at the sale price? Would a store do that or do they generally frown upon that? Many thanks and apologies for the run-on sentence.

roxy said...

Anon, at the risk of sounding harsh that's frowned upon. Yes, you can do it but Anthro considers it taking advantage of their return policy.

Susanna said...

Well, I just called the Pasadena store and they said they didn't have any shoes on hold. I guess someone already claimed them! Thanks still to Cindy for the tip and to Roxy for having a great blog! :)

Glenda said...

I also have a general question--I'm curious about Anthro's personal shopping service. Has anyone used it, and how was your experience?

I think I'm proficient at coordinating items together, tops & bottoms w/ cardigans or whatever, but I feel stymied about how to accessorize. I sense that cool accessorizing would polish up an outfit, and so maybe some personal shopping service might be helpful.

Muse,

If for any reason the size 10 budding t-straps don't work for you, PLEASE let me know! I got soooo excited when I saw the post about them, ran to get my credit card, looked up the number then paused-I thought I should probably make sure no one had snatched them up yet...sure enough, they had. Congrats to you, though!

My e-mail is knhins2(at)gmail(dot)com. If anyone sees another pair of size 10 Budding T-straps, or would like to part with theirs, I would love to get them.

Thanks!

The woman I talked to was very nice when she called me back, and said that they're excited to explore this new blog thing. :)

For those who are in search of a High Speed Cardigan, I found a size M hiding on eBay, however, its original buttons have been replaced. The starting price is $9.99 (not my auction):

Thanks for all the tips about the honeyed peplum skirt! Unfortunately, the Racks I called didn't have my size and the new eBay listing (which is more expensive than I can really afford anyway lol) is already sold out in size 0.

Hope you're all having a fantastic, relaxing wknd!

Glenda -

I've received advice from the personal shopper at the Boylston Street Anthropologie store in Boston on multiple occasions and she is amazing! She's very honest about fit issues - on multiple occasions she has told me not to buy something because it just wasn't flattering on me.

She also gives great tips for accessorizing. I've purchased belts, tights, shoes, and cardigans with her help. She's really nice about trying to work with items that you already own, if you don't have the budget to go out and buy a bunch of new things.

Definitely take advantage of the personal shopping service if it's available at your local store!
