Reviews: Cinched Cables Cardigan, Percussive Cardigan, Fine Service Blazer, Jacquard Drape Jacket

Good morning ladies! There were a few second cuts online, most notably to me the Hollyhock Dress (now $40) and the Garnet Glow Dress (now $50). Make sure to take another look through sale! On to the reviews...

Continuing my quest to find every piece of the outfit at the top of yesterday evening's reviews post, here's the sweater. It's Moth's Cinched Cables Cardigan ($118). Kudos to Anthro's stylists as this is an item I would have rejected as being too far outside my comfort zone. As soon as I saw that outfit it became a must-have.

Moth is all over the map in sizing. There was slim pickings on the rack so I went with my true size medium. It was too big overall. The cardigan is kind of tricky to put on. The belt is the only cinch -- there's no buttons or clips to keep the cardigan closed. If I buy this sweater I will probably add something. The belt is one size fits all (boo) closed by a clasp. On the medium it was too big for my tiny waist. I'm a little disappointed it's not adjustable. It is elastic though so it will stretch. Too bad it can't shrink too.

The sweater itself is cotton and very nicely done. Moth's stuff can be itchy but this sweater was fine. It's quite beautiful and on sale I think this one will be mine. In a small.

Splendid is quickly becoming one of my go-to brands for expensive basics. They have a way of putting a twist on their pieces that makes them instant classics. I love the Percussive Cardigan ($78), their newest piece at Anthropologie. It comes in three striped variations -- blue, green or white -- and I need them all! Usually open cardigans are instantly rejected. But the tabs on this one make the fabric drape in a flattering way.

I grabbed the green in a medium and fell in love. It's not very thick, much more spring than winter appropriate. I think I'd get tons of mileage out of it. I can see rocking it casually or with a dress. Just so many different ways to wear it! This one went straight to my wishlist.

Blazerphobic as I am, I have to admit that Burlapp's Fine Service Blazer ($118) is a lovely sight to behold. Checkerboard, but not salesman-like. I grabbed an 8 to try. It was a little tight across the bust, enough that I'd size up to a 10 to buy it.

The fabric is thick and stiff, and not too rough. It didn't fit boxy which I appreciate. This is due to some well-placed cinching in the back. I would have loved another 2-3 inches in length (seriously Anthro, TALL versions please!). This jacket has that something that makes it pretty cool. To the wishlist.

The other jacket I gave a shot was Idra's Jacquard Drape Jacket ($118). Again I reached for an 8 only this one was kind of big on me, especially through the back. I like the portrait collar and the pattern, which is somewhat reminiscent of their Bowtied Mini ($98). There are two large side pockets. The jacket closes via 3 buttons with a sash that I found bulky.

The jacket is pretty warm and I'd argue you could wear this late September through end of March. In the winter you'd need to layer a sweater underneath and there is plenty of room to do that. This jacket is interesting so I've wishlisted it. A reviews set where I liked everything -- awesome!

I also received a mini-guest review from Tippy, of the wonderful blog Très Tippy. She sent along a review of the Unbroken Chains Cardigan ($128):

I received the cardigan last week and was so excited to try it on. I usually am a size XS, however, since the smallest size was a small, I went with that. I am REALLY glad they didn't even have an extra small because this sweater runs small. I found the S to fit just right. I was worried about it being too tight but it fit nicely on the shoulders and I buttoned it up to the 3rd button from the top. This button by the way, is different from the rest. While the others are gold, the 3rd button is pearl-like and gold. It's a small detail that I almost missed, but it gives the sweater a special touch. I also love that the ruffles aren't overwhelming. I am obsessed with chain prints so I couldn't wait for this to go on sale. If it's one of those "must have" pieces then I say, go for it! It'll definitely be a special and pretty addition to one's wardrobe.

Thanks Tippy! Be sure to check out her full post here.
