Alright, I'm back on board the outfit of the day train! I was unable to set up my usual "studio" due to something called football. Much as I love football, which is more important? The playoffs or my vain little pictures of myself? Yep, that's what I thought. I was banished to the hallway.
People occasionally ask me why I cut off my head in my review posts and it's twofold: first, I want the focus to be on the clothes. Second, I make the weirdest faces when I take pictures. But for these OOTD posts my head is part of the outfit so here I am! I got lazy about taking shots after the fact and since I plan my outfits for the week beforehand anyway I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Here's the rough drafts of my outfits for the week. I usually solidify accessories the morning of and of course outfits are subject to change depending on the weather.
Above is Tuesday's outfit. (Yay short week!) We have management meetings at work on Tuesday so I like to wear a skirt. I recently got a promotion and though our work environment is very casual I want to look a bit polished. You know the drill.
In this outfit:
Top: Ann Taylor Loft (similar here, here and here)
Blouse: J.Crew Floral Fan Placket button-down (here's a closeup photo, similar here, here and here)
Skirt: Gap denim slant-pocket pencil skirt (similar here, here and here)
Tights: Banana Republic checked dotted tights ($17)
Shoes: Nine West (similar here, here and here)
Necklace: Ann Taylor Loft triple-strand necklace (similar here)
Earrings: NY&Co (similar here, here and here)

Come Wednesday I'll be running around after work so jeans are best. (I loooove that I can wear jeans to work.) The tee is last year's Compass Points Tee by C. Keer and it was part of my birthday haul from last year. I just love the colors. The cardigan is a more recent purchase that just happens to coordinate perfectly. The buttons on the cardi are really something -- they're a dark silver and fun to look out. So I'll wear silver pumps as an accent.
In this outfit:
Top: Anthropologie Compass Points Tee (couldn't really turn up anything similar, sorry)
Cardigan: NY & Co Antiqued Button Flower Cardigan (now $20)
Jeans: Joe's Honey (similar here, here and here)
Pumps: Steve Madden skorrch in dark pewter (similar here, here and here)
Earrings: on the right in this shot

Come Thursday the dress is back in business. I suppose it maybe looks a little bit like Maria in The Sound of Music but that can't be a bad thing, right? Black is just too easy to throw under this All Trades Dress. I love the green color as it really brings out my hazel eyes. Someday I shall get my portrait photography skills up to snuff -- right now I'm much better at scenes. You wouldn't know it from this outfit or the next one but I'm turtleneck aversive. Come about 2 PM I feel like I'm choking. So far J.Crew's tissue turtlenecks are the only ones I've found that avoid that feeling. I highly recommend them. Unfortunately their black is too thin, so it's H&M for this look.
In this outfit:
Turtleneck: H&M (similar here and here)
Dress: Anthropologie All Trades Dress (similar here and here)
Tights: Target crosshatch tights (similar here)
Necklace: J.Crew Taj Mahal necklace (pic here, similar here, here and here)
Ring: F21 owl ring (similar here and here)

This will probably be my day outfit on Friday -- my birthday!!! Cannot wait. That night I'm going out with some of my closest galpals to one of my favorite NYC hangouts but during the day this is what I'll be parading around in (and possibly commiserating the last night of Conan hosting The Tonight Show, what the fuck NBC??). The Snowscape Tank has proven to be surprisingly versatile even with all the embellishment. It goes under cardis and over turtlenecks with aplomb. So glad this one made it to sale so I could grab it.
In this outfit:
Tank: Snowscape Tank (now $70)
Turtleneck: J.Crew Tissue Turtleneck in light pewter (now $20)
Jeans: Jeans: Joe's Honey (similar here, here and here)
Shoes: J.Crew Petra Nubuck D'orsay heels (pic here, similar here and here)
