Shirt Tales

At my first job in New York City I was required to conform to a miserable dress code. Ever since then I have mostly feared the stiff button-down shirt -- the shirt of gaps; itchiness and general constriction. Leave it to Anthropologie to put a more delicate spin on the buttoned-up look. No fear from these.

The In-Tune Shirtdress ($118) was recently featured in a wear it now, wear it later outfit set. But it was buried under so many layers who could really appreciate it? On its own it's a cute look. Dare I say it's a little country bumpkin with the plaid? And note the tighter squares of the plaid placket. I'm curious to see how it translates in real life.

The Skinny Striped Blouse ($88) is just what I've been looking for to layer under thin cashmere sweaters for fall. It reminds me of an Oxford dress shirt but the peter pan collar and slight darts lend a more feminine touch. As a bonus it's made of soft voile. Another pick headed to the wish list.

It doesn't get much more New England chic than the Revere Blouse ($68) with its fierce flounce and lacey accents. Another striped shirt that drew me in, this one features slightly aristocratic shoulders perfect for pairing with straight leg jeans tucked into a sharp pair of riding boots. One if by cash, two if by card?
