Reviews: Wisp-of-Lace Tank

Clownlike. That is what I thought with the Wisp-of-Lace Tank ($78). It has spots that resemble circus tents. It has a collar that came straight off the clown costume to your local Anthropologie. "This shirt," I said to myself, "is ree-friggin-diculous."

Then again I'm not really one to let sanity (or lack thereof) stop me. I tried on the shirt despite my initial visceral reaction. And I'm so glad I did, because I really like it! Ric Rac pretty much owns my heart anyway so I'm inclined to cut the brand slack. What really surprised me is that the collar is flattering. It balances the bottom of the shirt nicely. The bottom has a good 2 inches of smocking which you can use to position the shirt to your liking. I left it a little higher so that it bloused out a bit.

I think what I like most about the top is that it has orange and mustard yellow in it without being overpowering. Those are hard colors to pull off and this way I get some trendy in without looking like I had an accident at the tanning salon. As with all Ric Rac items I had to size down to a small for the best fit.

The Wisp-of-Lace Tee has a solid cousin in the Lace Collar Tee ($68). I guess the solid cotton fabric was less expensive owing to the price difference? It's also 2 inches longer than the other tee and in my case that ended up leaving me feeling like a small was still too big. It was also interesting how without the print the collar almost looks too small. I clearly prefer the print version over this one. Which one do you like better?
