IRL: Necklace Tank

This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I've tried on the Necklace Tank ($68) and each time I always think the same exact thing: I love the top...hate the bottom. Bubble hem, why do you torture me so? Hopefully this a bit helpful for people not near a store.

I was inspired to revisit this top thanks to goldenmeans' post. The angle of the IRL shot above isn't great to begin with but the truth is it probably doesn't matter. The shirt cuts right across my hips -- my widest part -- and that's a tough sell. Maybe if I wore it with a pencil skirt, skinny jeans or something more structured on the bottom. I keep waffling on this one...what do you think? Do you own this top? What do you pair it with?

Wanted to also mention that though I don't see it on the website yet the stores are selling the ribbon w/flowers as a necklace as well. So if like me you're not sure about the tank but want the cuteness of the flowers there's your solution!

I agree! It's so pretty, except for that darned bubble hem. I don't own it (yet), but I think it would look good with a pencil skirt or skinny jeans.
Also, have you put your Winding Lane top through the wash yet? Please tell me it's not actually dry clean only?

Huh, how bout that? I have washed the Winding Lane top because I didn't even notice it was dry clean only on the tag. It came through fine -- I dry all my stuff to damp dry and then hang it. I did have to gently iron the ruffles back to normal.

The shirt is so cute. Give it a chance! The first bubble hem shirt I ever bought was from Banana Republic last year. I ended up hating the bubble hem so much that I took it to the tailor to have it converted to a regular top. And then I realized that I just didn't like the top so I donated it to charity. I never wore it, not even once! But I still bought the peony drawstring top last week (in both grey and blue), and it also has a bubble hem. The shirts are totally adorable and work very well with my jeans.

Wear skinny jeans with this and it would look SO cute. Thanks for trying it on and posting this! It's the one thing I didn't try on that I wanted to last time I was in the store.

I would definately pass on that tank. As you said, it hits in the wrong area at the bottom and is hiding your cute figure. I don't think skinny jeans will help this top.

adorable top. i agree with the skinny jeans. you can also try tucking in with a high waisted pencil skirt or pants to conceal the bubble hem =)

I'd sell my first born to own then entirety of Anthropologie.

Glad there are other addicts out there...

I think you should pass on this blouse ... the bubble hem just doesn't do your figure any justice. I love the top of it, but the bottom is a total deal breaker.

I don't think a pencil skirt or skinny jeans would change it, and anyway that would severely limit your ability to wear the blouse. There are tons of other cute tops at Anthro to be had that will look absolutely smashing on you!

The windflower necklace reminds me a little of this tank. I love it though and think it would look pretty tucked into a skirt. I think I need to stop by my anthropologie and take a look at this thing.

I have actually loved some of the tops so much and hated the bubble bottom... so what I found if I completely loved it that much (and that one is totally adorable on the top and you do keep re-visiting that one!) you can always take it to a tailor and have them remove the hem and take it up just a touch above the hip to where it will be more complimentary to your figure! It's not that much more expensive and if you LOVE it... Just a suggestion. I've done it with tops and pants, sleeves, etc. because I am on the...uh... more shall we say "petite" size (polite for shorter than your statuesque 5'9")side! I have to alter a lot.

I really like the top itself and I don't think it looks so bad on you, Roxy! But I see what you're saying with the bubble hem, though. Dang those bubble hems, I have yet to get one to look right on me (and I'm strangely hipless, a ruler shape of sorts). I think someone mentioned skinny pants- would those work for you? Because I think that's really the only way I could see the top working, either with skinny pants or perhaps tucked into something so it doesn't look so voluminous on the bottom.

The roses on the top of the top are so so so pretty, I'd hate to rate this top as a "pass". BUT GAH! BUBBLE HEMS! MAKE THEM DISAPPEAR AND GO AWAY FOREVER AND EVER IN THE FASHION WORLD PLEEEEASE! I can seriously do without them.
